I've known them for close to fifteen years. This is for a husband and wife that own a business and need to remote in from home. I have two brand new Latitudes, one works with Netextender, the other does not. I won't have any choice, this product is about to put me out of business, and I only have a handful (5 maybe) of installations. If this is a sign of things to come, I'll be looking for work.
When are people going to admit that Windows 10 is a scam. But do you guys have any ideas or thoughts on work around in the meantime? This seems like we need to just sit tight and wait for Dell/SonicWall to recognize, accept, and then fix this issue. We've reached out to Dell/SonicWall and they originally told us the latest version of NetExtender is not supported on Win10 (nothing about this is mentioned on the MySonicWall website) and that we should try 8.0.238, however I can confirm that has the same problem.Īn MSP I sometimes bring in to help with issues like this now tells me they are seeing this as well. Sometimes I have to click around in the menu once or twice and then it happens.
I simply install Netextender, open it, attempt to open the "properties" by clicking on the properties icon in the lower left corner of the application window, and the crash will typically happen immediately. I can reliably reproduce this error on every Win10 Anniversary computer I've been on. This happens in multiple scenarios, including without even attempting to connect, so the problem is local to the application on the computer. Once this happens, the only way to get Netextender to open and run again is to manually restart the service, which for my users means they have to reboot. Often resulting in a "not responding" window that needs to be shut down via Task Manager. The issue presents itself in application crashes and freezes.
Win7 and pre-Anniversary Win10 machines still seem stable.
At least for now, it seems to be isolated to machines that received the Anniversary update.
We have been having a heck of a time getting NetExtender to operate smoothly and properly with Windows 10 machines.
