I have a satellite USB modem hooked into a host computer with internet connection sharing. I have a cat-5 cable going from the host computer's NIC to a Linksys switch. Also hooked into the switch are my laptop and the WAP54G.
I'm used to dealing with wireless routers, not AP's. Usually I would just plug in and dial into the IP of the router. But I don't see any other way of setting this thing up without using the setup wizard. Why would the setup software not see the AP? ICS is most likely the root of the problem. Your host computer's USB network connection will have an IP address range, which is different from the IP address range on your Ethernet network connection. I just set up ICS yesterday and found my wireless network connection (to my wireless router) had an IP address of 192.168.1.101, but my wired Ethernet network connection (to our PS2) had an IP address of 192.168.0.1.

Also note if it's a static or DHCP served address.
Connect your laptop's Ethernet port directly to the WAP54G's LAN port with an Ethernet cable. Set your laptop to have a static IP address of 192.168.1.100. You should be able to connect to the WAP54G via » now. Change the WAP54G to have a static LAN IP address of 192.168.0.245.
